How we can work together
There is no single right way to do therapy. Some people think best out loud; others find that words come later, and the art or the senses leads the way. We'll choose the approach — or the blend — that fits you.
- 01
Counselling
Sensitive, confidential conversation — a place to think clearly about what's happening in your life, with someone trained to help you make sense of it.
- 02
Art therapy
Express it to address it. Art-making often comes before words. Guided by a professional trained art therapist, creative work gives shape to feelings and ideas that don't yet have words — no art experience needed.
- 03
EMDR
A structured, sensitive, well-researched therapy that helps the nervous system finish processing difficult memories, so the past can stop interrupting the present.
- 04
Mindfulness & somatic work
Gentle attention to breath and body — learning to notice what you feel, settle your nervous system, and stay present with what matters.
- 05
DBT skills
Practical, adaptable, evidence-based skills for managing intense emotion, riding out crisis moments, and building steadier relationships — one tool at a time.
Life can be really hard sometimes. It can feel dark and confusing. Sometimes we know exactly what’s wrong, but sometimes it feels harder to pin down and even harder to sort out. Sometimes people seek therapy because they feel alone in their struggles, or uncertain of how to move forward by themselves.
You may have challenges that you’re unsure how to tackle, vague symptoms that don’t make sense, knots in your stomach that don’t relent, a sense of dread or confusion that doesn’t change even when the life you have built should feel safe. You may be carrying painful or traumatic memories that have left scars on your day-to-day life and affected the ways you think and feel about yourself or others. Maybe you just aren’t where you want to be in life, or don’t feel like you are showing up as the person you want to be. Maybe you just feel stuck.
Often we have several of these at once, tangled together.
Clients come to Wild Light with all kinds of concerns from stress, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, addictions, parenting challenges, issues with self-esteem or body image, relationship challenges or break-ups, or the lasting effects of relationship abuse. Sometimes it’s just a sense of something feeling wrong, or not right in yourself or your life.
We believe that it can get better.

Tianna Mapstone
MPS‑AT · Canadian Certified Counsellor
Tianna is a mental health therapist and art therapist who believes that healing happens in relationship as much as in technique. Healing is not a linear process and it moves at the pace of trust, connection and readiness.
She holds a Master of Psychotherapy with a specialization in Art Therapy and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor, working with children, youth, and adults across a range of concerns. Her practice draws on talk therapy approaches, narrative, IFS, art therapy, EMDR, mindfulness and DBT — matched thoughtfully to each person rather than applied by formula. Using creativity, warmth and humour, Tianna aims to make sessions feel less like an appointment and more like a non-judgemental conversation with someone who is genuinely on your side.
